Help Protect The Environment

United Auto Body is giving away
FREE reusable grocery bags to help save the environment

Plastic bags and paper bags are one in the same: they both require energy to produce and time to decompose. Recycling also requires energy for collection and processing. Only 10-15% of paper bags and 1-3% of plastic bags are recycled. The only true solution is to use reusable bags.

Here are some important statistics that can be found on the internet:

Plastic Bags

  • A plastic shopping bag can take anywhere from 20 to 1,000 years to decompose. Paper bags don’t fare much better.
  • Most recycling facilities will NOT take plastic bags because the cost to recycle plastic bags outweighs their value. Only 1% of plastic bags in the world are recycled. This leads to more trash.
  • Plastic bags are made from petroleum products and natural gases, nonrenewable resources. This ultimately drives up fuel prices. It takes 12 million barrels of oil to produce the amount of plastic bags the U.S. uses each year.
  • The U.S. alone uses approximately 100 billion new plastic bags each year. The average person uses 350 to 500 each year.

Paper Bags

  • The U.S. cuts down 14 million trees each year to supply the demand for paper shopping bags.
  • 13% more energy is required to produce one paper bag then to produce two plastic bags.
  • Paper bag production releases as much toxins into the atmosphere because they are made with chemicals processed at high temperatures.
  • Paper bags weigh 10 times their counterparts in plastic requiring more fuel to ship.
  • Paper bags produce over two times as much atmospheric waste as plastic bags.
  • Less than 20% of paper bags are recycled.

United Auto Body ECO-BAGS

  • The only true solution is to reuse the bags you get from the grocery stores. The better solution is to use our FREE reusable durable eco-bags.
  • The grocery stores charge anywhere from $2 to $5 per reusable bag. Our bag is FREE.
  • In exchange for our FREE ECO-BAGS, United Auto Body simply asks that you spread the word about the need to conserve our resources to preserve the environment.
Giving away FREE ECO-BAGS is one way that United Auto Body contributes to saving the environment.
